Holland, Michigan’s Tulip Time Festival

With Festival Headliner Show – The Beach Boys!

May 10-12, 2018

Thu / Sat - 3 Days

Since 1929, the small city of Holland, Michigan has celebrated its Dutch heritage and culture and each spring it blossoms with literally millions of tulips. In addition to tulips decorating city parks, public attractions and six miles of tulip lanes through Holland's historic district and neighborhoods, the festival features parades, concerts, theatre productions, and traditional Dutch dance performances, attractions and food.

Attend the Tulip Time Festival, a celebration of Dutch heritage and culture. See two festival shows: The Beach Boys with Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, and the lively New Odyssey Dinner Show, a trip favorite for past Ambassadair travelers. Visit Windmill Island Gardens—with its manicured plantings, dikes, canals and the only authentic operating Dutch windmill in the United States. Tour the city with a local guide and view the grand finale parade.

Thu, May 10: Depart Indianapolis by motorcoach, stopping in Saugatuck, Michigan. Upon arrival in the city of Holland visit Veldheer Tulip Farm, showcasing more than five million tulips, plus thousands of daffodils, hyacinths and crocuses in the spring. There is also a wooden shoe factory and a Delftware production facility where you can watch the world-famous Dutch pottery being molded, fired, hand-decorated and glazed. Check in to the hotel before attending the New Odyssey Dinner Show. Featuring three ultra-talented guys and 30 instruments, New Odyssey has amazed and entertained fans with a continual stream of innovative and timeless musical compositions. This festival favorite adds new arrangements to their show every year, so it’s always fresh and fun to see time and again. (Meal: Dinner)

Fri, May 11: Take a city tour of the Holland area with a costumed guide and learn the history of this famous town and its Tulip Time Festival. Colorful stops along the way provide many photo opportunities. Explore the Marktplaats (“Marketplace”) with the tastes, sights, sounds and crafts of 19th-century Holland, then enjoy free time in the downtown area. Get ready for a night of fun, fun, fun as The Beach Boys take the stage to celebrate Tulip Time and kick off the summer season in a very big way! For five decades, The Beach Boys have recorded and performed the music that has become the world’s favorite soundtrack to summer and they continue to delight and engage fans spanning multiple generations. Sat, May 12: Visit Windmill Island Gardens, featuring a 250-year-old working Dutch windmill, De Zwaan (“graceful bird”), which towers over the 36-acre property of manicured gardens, dikes, canals and more than 150,000 tulips. The gardens are also the home of an antique Dutch carousel and the Posthouse museum, an exact replica of a 14th-century wayside inn. Then take your seat for the Muziekparade (“music parade”), the grand finale of the festival, with local and national marching bands, floats, giant helium balloons, horses and Dutch klompen dancers.
