Check in to your hotel, located directly on the Paseo del Rio (River Walk), a public park and network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River lined by restaurants, bars and shops. Enjoy the evening at leisure.
Wed, Nov 14: The day begins with narrated city tour aboard a double decker bus. See the Spanish Governor's Palace, La Villita Historic Arts Village, San Fernando Cathedral and Hemisfair Park — the site of the 1968 World’s Fair. Explore the city further on your own with a hop-on/hop-off trolley pass with stops including Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose and El Mercado, the Mexican Marketplace. This evening after the crowds have left, take a private after-hours tour of the Alamo. Round out the day with dinner at the Colonial Room Restaurant located in the historic Menger Hotel, which opened in 1859. In addition to hosting generations of San Antonio’s most elaborate balls and society parties, the restaurant has welcomed United States Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and William McKinley, in addition to Robert E. Lee, General George Patton and Oscar Wilde. (B,D)
