This long-standing Winter Carnival celebrates snow and the chance to get together. Bonhomme, the carnival’s happy ambassador, invites you to play in the snow, go ice skating, watch an ice canoe race, eat maple taffy, and take a traditional sleigh ride. Explore the beauty of winter; come play and let the celebration begin.

Fri, Feb 1: Depart Indianapolis for Montreal, Canada. As Quebec Province’s largest city, Montreal offers you many delights within the city. You’ll see favorites including historic Old Montreal where walking down cobblestone roads lead you to the Nortre-Dame Basilica, boutiques, and cafes. See the Olympic Complex, McGill University, and enjoy an amazing view from the peak of Mount Royal. Check in to the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth for two nights and enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. (Meal: Dinner)

Sat, Feb 2: This morning, take a trip to the Old Port of Montreal for a ride on the newly opened La Grande Roue de Montreal, or large ferris wheel! From your climate-controlled gondola take in the picturesque views of Old Montreal. The rest of the day offers you free time to discover the wonders of this French-Canadian city. Whether your interest is in photography, architecture, cuisine, museums, or even exploring the underground city and shops, Montreal offers choices for all tastes. (B)

Sun, Feb 3: Bonjour, Quebec City. This morning, relax and take in the sites of the St. Lawrence River, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, and historic Trois-Rivieres on board Via Rail’s Corridor train to Quebec City. Once there, this UNESCO World Heritage Site welcomes you to experience all of her charm. Check in to the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, a world-renowned icon that dominates the Quebec City skyline with its unique architecture. (B)

Mon, Feb 4:Join your guide for a tour through the winding streets of Old Quebec, where you’ll be fascinated by the historic architecture of the National Assembly and Parliament Hill, Battlefields Park, the Citadel, and the lovely Le Chateau Frontenac. Spend some time exploring Notre-Dame-de-Quebec basilica and Place d’Armes along with stepping back in time in the heart of the old lower town at Place Royale. Reward yourself with lunch and entertainment at an authentic Canadian sugar shack from the 1920’s.. Feast on a country-style lunch, watch a maple taffy demonstration, and take a tour of the Sugar Shack. Plenty of free time remains to enjoy this quaint city by the water. (B,L)

Tue, Feb 5: This morning tour the Hôtel de Glace, a 45 room hotel and stunning work of architecture entirely built of snow and ice that is completely redesigned and rebuilt each year. the rest of the day is all about Winter Carnival. Don your red gear and arrow sash and take part in this long-standing tradition of winter celebration. View the massive ice sculptures, try your hand at snow races, or ice skating, take a ride down the toboggan slide and be sure to catch the night parade. With your free time, you can find adventure and surround yourself with winter beauty and activities of Carnival.
