Imagine hundreds of hot-air balloons rising over the desert until the blue sky becomes a myriad of bright, dancing colors. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta delivers this display every year, and it’s been called the “greatest spectacle in aviation.” Some 500 balloons are part of the 10-day show, which has grown into the world’s premier ballooning event, complete with its own specially designed 200-acre park on Albuquerque’s north side. It’s also the most photographed event in the world, so be sure to bring your camera!
Enjoy the local sights and events, plus a day visiting the art galleries and historic Santa Fe Plaza. Ride the tram to the top of Sandia Peak for an expansive view of Albuquerque and the heavily wooded backside to the east, and enjoy delicious local fare.
