Sat, Oct 6: Arrive in Paris and stop for a Welcome Lunch in the historic Montmartre district before checking in to your Paris hotel. After checking in, enjoy free time to explore the sights and streets of the City of Light! (Meal: Lunch)

Sun, Oct 7: Travel to Rouen, the historic capital of Normandy located on the River Seine, and walk the streets and see the Gothic Rouen Cathedral, famously depicted in the paintings of Claude Monet. You’ll also see a superb modern church commemorating the burning of Joan of Arc here in 1431. Continue into the rich dairy lands of Normandy and stop in the picturesque port city of Honfleur. The day culminates in Bayeux, where you will visit the Bayeux Museum and see the Bayeux Tapestry, an important historical “document” that depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England. Continue to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure in Bayeux. (B,L)

Mon, Oct 8: There are poignant reminders of World War II as you travel past Juno and Gold beaches. Visit the D-Day Museum and see the remnants of the artificial port in the bay of Arromanches. Then, pay a solemn visit to the American Military Cemetery of Saint-Laurent near Omaha Beach before visiting the bunkers and the Rangers Memorial at Pointe du Hoc. Visit Utah beach, then wrap up the day with a relaxing dinner with the group this evening. (B,D)

Tue, Oct 9: Journey to the historical province of Brittany and visit the magical island and gravity-defying Benedictine Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel. The abbey island sits in the bay where Normandy and Brittany meet, and the small medieval town huddles behind an outer ring of walled defenses—it’s one street containing shops, cafes and hotels. Continue along the Brittany coast to the historic walled port city of Saint-Malo (infamous for privateering). Enjoy a guided tour and walk through the streets of the old town to see noteworthy sights. At your leisure, wander the streets and ramparts, and admire the fantastic views of the town and bay. By night, the town’s medieval maze of winding streets is abuzz with charming restaurants and bars. (B)

Wed, Oct 10: Travel south through the Loire Valley, where you will see the Angers Castle along the way. Stop in Saumur for a tasting of local wines. Visit the picturesque Chateau d’Usse, the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty, before continuing to Montbazon where you will check in to your chateau hotel. (B)

Thu, Oct 11: Tour the Chateau de Villandry and its magnificent formal Renaissance gardens. Following your visit, return to your chateau hotel and enjoy free time to relax before dinner. This evening, enjoy a special dinner with wine and seasonal dishes. (B,D)

Fri, Oct 12: Travel through the vast wheat fields of La Beauce, where the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres looms large on the horizon. Admire the beautiful Gothic stained glass windows and well-preserved architecture and features. From here, return to Paris, where you’ll see the famous sights including the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre. Behold the vast Place de la Concorde, where the guillotine once stood, then travel down the Avenue des Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon and dedicated to those who fought and died in the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. This evening, dine with the group at a special farewell dinner. (B,D)

Sat, Oct 13: After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your non-stop flight back to Indianapolis. (B)
