Wed, Nov 20: Depart Indianapolis for Historic Roscoe Village, in Coshocton, Ohio; all dressed up in holiday splendor. A guide will take you back in time to discover how Christmas traditions were practiced in the 1800s — from cards, toys, treats, “visions of sugarplums,” and letters to Santa. Then create a Canal Era holiday craft or wander through the delightful variety of shops with unique gifts and Ohio handcrafted items. Continue to Berlin and check in to your hotel, the Berlin Encore Hotel, for the next three nights. (Meal: Lunch)

Thu, Nov 21: This morning, get into the Christmas spirit at the Christmas Tree Festival in Dover at the Warther Museum where you’ll see more than 100 decorated trees, wreaths, and home decor. Explore Ernest Warther’s ebony, ivory, and walnut hand-carved masterpieces, in addition to his expansive Native American arrowhead collection and his wife’s enormous button collection. Stop in at Walnut Creek Cheese for lunch on your own at their Mudd Valley Café, famous for their Amish “haystack” lunch. Watch a candle carving demonstration before a little rest at the hotel or a visit to nearby shops. This evening, visit the village of Sugar Creek, widely known as the “Little Switzerland of Ohio,” home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock, and the Ohio Star Theater. You’ll have free time to wander before an included dinner and settling in to see the musical, The Christmas Tree Ship, based on a true story of a widow carrying on her husband’s mission of delivering Christmas trees by captaining her own Christmas tree ship. Fri, Nov 22: Today, visit the Victorian House Museum in Millersburg, all decked out for the holidays. One of the best examples of Queen Anne architecture, and on the National Register of Historic Places, the mansion features 28 rooms of Victorian furnishings, accessories, and holiday decorations. Then spend some free time in historic downtown Millersburg; a true artisan’s paradise. Find shops full of beautiful hand-crafted gems such as wooden bowls, colorful throw rugs, intricately designed glass ornaments, and centuries-old antiques — just a sampling of the treasures waiting to be discovered. Be sure to stop by Hotel Millersburg, built in 1824 as a stagecoach stop and tavern. Check out over 750 historic pictures in the first-floor entrance hallway and throughout the Tavern. Visit Heini’s cheese factory before heading back to the hotel to freshen up. Tonight, an Amish family welcomes you to their farm for a traditional meal, then experience Christmas in the Country at the Amish Country Theater with music, ventriloquists, comedians, and more. After the show, return to the hotel, which is right next door to the theater. (B,D)

Sat, Nov 23: Following breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to Cambridge, transformed for the holidays into a charming Dickens Victorian Village. A local guide will explain how this Dickens tradition came about and describe engaging depictions of classic Dickens-era scenes comprised of life sized, hand-made mannequins at each antique lamppost and bench. Then, delight in a four-course Victorian Tea for lunch at the Cambridge Country Club while the “Queen” tells stories of her life between courses. Visit Cambridge Glass and Kennedy Bakery before returning to Indianapolis. (B,L)
