This tour is the perfect combination of the relaxed atmosphere of a seven-night cruise plus the highlights of an Alaska land tour. Enjoy a four-night land tour from Fairbanks to Anchorage, with two nights in Denali National Park. In Fairbanks, take a sternwheeler riverboat cruise on the Chena and Tenana Rivers. Search for wildlife such as grizzlies and moose while on a Tundra Wilderness Tour in Denali National Park. Continue to Anchorage via the McKinley Explorer with panoramic views from your seat in a glass dome railcar. Board Holland America Line’s ms Noordam in Seward to embark on a glorious Inside Passage Glacier Discovery Cruise. Discover Juneau with its bounty of water, forests, mountains, and glaciers, and Glacier Bay National Park where jagged snow-covered mountain peaks and calving glaciers will leave you in awe.

Itinerary

Wed, June 24: Fly to Fairbanks, Alaska and overnight downtown.

Thu, June 25: Today’s full day of sightseeing includes a cruise aboard the sternwheeler riverboat Discovery III. Visit a recreated Athabascan Indian village, pet a sled dog (or two), and observe a bush pilot demonstration. Depart by motorcoach for Denali National Park and check in to the new Junior Suites at the McKinley Chalets on the Nenana River for two nights. Use your Ambassadair “Your Choice” excursion or enjoy an evening on your own. (Meal: Lunch)

Fri, June 26: Embark on a Tundra Wilderness Tourand 53 miles deep into Denali National Park, home to North America’s highest peak, Denali (formerly Mount McKinley). The park is home to wildlife such as grizzlies, Dall sheep, moose, and caribou. A snack box is included on the tour. The remainder of the day you are free to enjoy optional activities such as flightseeing, river rafting, or horseback riding.

Sat, June 27: All aboard Holland America Line’s award-winning McKinley Explorer dome train as you traverse the Great Land with spectacular panoramic views from your seat. Lunch is included in the elegant dining car. Check in to the Hotel Captain Cook in downtown Anchorage. (L)

Sun, June 28: Join fellow travelers at a private breakfast. Travel the scenic Seward Highway along the Turnagain Arm to board Holland America Line’s ms Noordam. (B,D)

Mon, June 29: Enjoy a day at sea. Relax and enjoy the activities on the ship. (B,L,D)

Tue, June 30: Cruise into Glacier Bay National Park surrounded by jagged snow-covered mountain peaks. The ship stops in front of the magnificent glaciers, and there is plenty of time to listen to the naturalist’s narration and watch the glaciers calving. (B,L,D)

Wed, July 1: Experience the activities in and around Haines, including rafting, hiking, fishing, or sightseeing tours, or opt to explore the nearby port of Skagway, a picturesque Gold Rush town. A not-to-be-missed highlight in Skagway is the White Pass & Yukon narrow-gauge railway. A water transfer is required in order to travel from Haines to Skagway. (B,L,D)

Thu, July 2: Cruise to Juneau, the state capital of Alaska, accessible by air or water only. With its bounty of water, forests, mountains, and glaciers, Juneau offers a variety of optional activities. Highlights include the Taku Glacier Lodge, Feast & Five Glacier Seaplane excursion, a visit to the Mendenhall Glacier and the Juneau Icefields, whale watching, rafting, fishing, dog sledding, and hiking. Fri, July 3: Arrive in Ketchikan, located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. Optional activities include a flightseeing trip to the Misty Fjords National Monument, a Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s adventure, a sightseeing trip to explore Totem Bight State Park, or Saxman Native Village to see the world’s largest collection of totem poles. Sat, July 4: Enjoy a day at sea, cruising the Inside Passage. (B,L,D)

Sun, July 5: Arrive in Vancouver, disembark after breakfast and transfer to the Vancouver airport for return flights to Indianapolis. (B)

Sun, July 5: After disembarking the ship, board the ferry to lovely Vancouver Island. Arrive in Victoria, and explore on a narrated city tour including a visit to world-famous Butchart Gardens. Overnight at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

Mon, July 6: Enjoy a morning at leisure, then ferry back to Vancouver. Check in to your deluxe downtown hotel and enjoy the balance of the day in beautiful Vancouver.

Tue, July 7: Transfer to the Vancouver airport for your return flight home.
