Overnight flight from Indianapolis to Rome, Italy.
Wed, May 3: Rome
Following an overnight flight, arrive Leonardo da Vinci/Fiumicino Airport, Rome. Your Italy Tour Guide will be there to greet you. Board, a private transfer in route to Hotel Le Meridien Visconti. Unload luggage and Skirt off on a walking tour of Piaza Popolo, known to be one of the most famous and beautiful squares in Rome. Indulge in the local fare with a welcome lunch, then embark on our first of many ‘must see’ experiences. Visit the smallest country in the world, Vatican City. Witness the testimony of Rome’s sacred Christendom with an in-depth tour of the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel, while discovering the inspiration behind the historical declaration that has awarded Vatican City its honorary title as a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or continue exploring the antiquities of this Imperial City. (Meal: Welcome Lunch)
Thu, May 4: Rome
Enjoy an included breakfast every day before jetting off. Today, explore Rome at your own pace, or opt in for an expert led, optional excursion through some of the most ancient sites of Imperial Rome.
Imperial Rome Option: Experience the Rome Colloseum and the Roman Forum Archeological Area including, Palatine Hill, the House of Vestal Virgins, Capital Palace, Senate House, and the Triumphal Arches. The remainder of the day is free to indulge in your own interests and culinary delights! (B)
Fri, May 5: Rome – Chianti Valley – Modena
Discover the magic of Chianti Classico as we visit the number one tasting attraction in Tuscany, the Castello di Verrazzano. Marvel at the location of the estate, finding the perfect conditions necessary to steward a beautifully balanced taste. A pairing of wine character and Tuscan delicacies will ignite the palate during an informative wine and food extravaganza prior to continuing to Modena. Also known for its iconic Ferrari, it is three of the world’s most famous Italian foods that designate Modena a favorite foodie’s destination, Balsamic Vinegar, Parmesan Cheese, and Prosciutto Ham. Sat, May 6: Modena – Langhirano – Modena
Today taste your way through the culinary excellence of two of Modena’s major exports— Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma. Our first introduction to this Italian trinity of tradition begins at Parmigiano Reggiano factory where secrets of this exquisite cheese are unveiled! Next, we proceed to Langhirano and witness the exclusivity and traditions of Parma Ham, responsible for the award-winning flavor of the most famous prosciutto in the world. Enjoy a spectacular lunch before returning to Modena for a free evening on your own. (B,L)
Sun, May 7: Modena – Venice – Modena
Today, journey to Venice for self-discovery of this charming Island. You may choose a short water taxi to the center of luxury glassmaking, Murano Island, or take in the romance of Venice on an optional Gondola Serenade. The time is yours; the choice is yours, then come back together for a spectacular lunch and tour of St. Mark’s Basilica. (B,L)
Mon, May 8: Modena – Lerici
This morning, before departing Modena, we make our final, no-trip-complete-without-it, stop at the Acetaia Malphighi Balsamic Vinegar Factory. An epicurean tutor will chronicle the precise conditions and quality standards that certify the authenticity of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar (Acetaia) of Modena. There is vinegar, and there is real, artisan vinegar. Time will allow to purchase a take-home bottle of this famous, “Black Gold” of Modena; then off to Lerici, a lovely Riviera town and ideal starting point for our Cinque Terre adventure. (B)
Tue, May 9: Lerici – Cinque Terre – Lerici
This day begins with a breathtaking boat ride. On display, is Cinque Terre, one of the most beautiful places in Europe and named after the colorful, iconic houses of the five fishing villages sitting high on the Italian Riviera. Though each village boasts the best food in Italy; the award goes to the unique environment of these villages along the coastline and hillside that have earned Cinque Terre the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation for cultural landscape. A shift in vistas takes us into two of the five scenic villages offering another striking perspective, this time, from high in the hills overlooking the sea. (B,D)
Wed, May 10: Lerici – Portovenere – Lerici
If you dare to go left when everyone else goes right, you will find the “Secret” Cinque Terre gem, Portovenere! Romantically known as the Gulf of Poets, this is one of the most charming towns on the Italian Riviera. A boat ride unveils this medieval fishing village so charmed with brightly colored houses along its small, yet picturesque harbor. Portovenere is home to the stunning Castle Doria, Byron’s Grotto and Church of San Pietro. Today’s exploration provides witness to the awe-striking, pristine beauty of this evocative bay, leaving no question of its influence on the many famous writers, poets, and artists. Rest assured, there will be time in Portovenere for self-discovery before returning to Lerici. (B)

From the Mediterranean Sea to the third largest of the Italian lakes, today beckons a free day for you to delve into the timeless appeal and opulence of Lake Como. The picturesque landscapes prove to be intoxicating to all. Learn how Como’s tranquility and grace continue to inspire to this day, just as it did the genius of Leonardo da Vinci during the Renaissance era. You may choose a private boat tour option offering magnificent views of the stunning villas along the shore. Fri, May 12: Lake Como – Milan – Lake Como
A day trip will affirm that even a short jaunt in Milan will play to its world-wide fame as a designers magnate. Explore the historical, cultural, and architectural landmarks of Milan. Visit the majesty of the Duomo Cathedral and the impressive collection of musical curios of La Scala Theatrical Museum. Take time to discover the rich culinary scene and shopping extravaganza at one of Milan’s major landmarks, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, before coming together for a last taste of Italy at your Farewell dinner.
