Thu, Dec 14: Depart Indianapolis via motorcoach for Clarksville, Indiana, along the Ohio River. At the Derby Dinner Theater enjoy lunch and a matinee performance of A Christmas Carol: The Musical, a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dicken’s most well-known story. Continue to French Lick and check in to your room at the French Lick Springs Hotel. Relax and enjoy the evening at leisure. (Meal: Lunch)
Fri, Dec 15: Following breakfast at the hotel, discover its captivating history on a guided tour of the property, from the creation of tomato juice in 1917 to the infamous Derby Weekend Raid of 1949 when gambling became suddenly taboo. Later in the day tour the West Baden Springs Hotel, which was once renowned for Pluto Water, and the interesting effect it had on guests. Learn about the mysterious Angel Room high above the atrium. You’ll also hear about the movers and shakers who came to make deals, gamble and “take the waters” in the early 20th century. In your free time explore the hotels, shop the quaint stores, try your luck at the casino or just relax and bask in the holiday spirit. This evening, enjoy a delicious meal with your fellow travelers before going to see the original musical production Christmas Treasures at Abbeydell Hall, located on a 20-acre estate and former home of Larry Bird, a basketball legend who grew up in French Lick.
