The Biltmore Estate, America’s largest private home, is a 250-room French Renaissance chateau, built between 1889 and 1895 by George Washington Vanderbilt II. It touts itself as “bigger and grander” than its counterparts in Rhode Island and NY. Explore the amazing intricacies of this “little mountain escape.” at your own pace. Sun, Dec 10: Depart Indianapolis for Nashville, Tennessee’s largest resort, Gaylord Opryland! Before immersing yourself in the holiday festivities of the 9-acre Gaylord resort, the welcome tradition of wholesome and hearty southern cooking awaits at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen. Following lunch, check in for two nights and spend some time exploring the resort at leisure taking take time to view the greatest show in ice. Handcrafted by more than 40 artisans, ICE! offers a delightful adventure through an unbelievable winter wonderland. Use your ticket for the Delta River Flatboat experience. Tonight, celebrate the holidays with A Country Christmas Dinner & Show featuring Darryl Worley & Friends at the resort. Darryl’s rich, reedy tones and down-to-earth Haggard-like vibes will open your heart and allow the warmth of holiday spirit to step in. (Meal: Lunch, Dinner)
Mon, Dec 11: Following a hot breakfast, set out on a narrated tour of “Music City” with a local guide. Learn about the preservation of the Old Ryman Auditorium, drive through Music Row, and see the Parthenon—a full-scale replica of the original in Athens. Lunch is included at one of the iconic downtown restaurants before spending free time on your own in this magical city all decked out in holiday cheer! Shop or visit a museum featuring Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, or the all-encompassing Country Music Hall of Fame. Head back to the resort or choose to extend your time downtown and take a later hotel transfer. Relax and refresh or take in more of the attractions at the resort, have dinner on your own before attending an Opry Country Christmas production at the Grand Ole Opry. (B,L)
Tue, Dec 12: Depart Nashville after breakfast for the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, explore Antler Village and enjoy some time on your own for lunch. The village connects the estate’s present to the past with historical exhibits, providing a relaxing place for dining and shopping. This afternoon, be treated like royalty when checking in for your two-night stay at the Inn on Biltmore Estate. Get settled and freshen up for an included dinner with the group at a local restaurant. Wed, Dec 13: The morning greets you with a hearty breakfast before your visit to the magnificent Biltmore House. The afternoon is yours to continue wandering the estate grounds, including the estate winery. Shop for one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts and spend more time exploring Historic Biltmore Village—built in the late 1890’s as a classic planned community at the entrance to George Vanderbilt’s Biltmore Estate, Historic Biltmore Village today is truly one of the South’s most unique touring and shopping environments. Rejoin the group for a Farewell Candlelight dinner at the Biltmore’s Stable Café followed by this evening’s Candlelight Christmas viewing of the Biltmore, where the grand rooms come to life with candles, twinkling Christmas lights, and musicians filling the halls with the sounds of the season.
