Itinerary
Sun, Mar 23: Depart Indianapolis for San Francisco, California. Arrive in the Bay Area and kick off your trip with a visit to Alcatraz Island. Considered one of the most notorious Federal penitentiaries in history, Alcatraz will fascinate you with its checkered past. Tour the inside of a prison cell, the Recreation Yard, and enjoy a scenic cruise across the bay to the island. Afterwards, check into Hotel Zephyr and enjoy the remainder of your first day at leisure. Hotel Zephyr boasts a playful courtyard with firepits, a variety of yard games, as well as an indoor game room. (Meals: Lunch)
Mon, Mar 24: Travel across the Golden Gate Bridge to see the beautiful redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and walk amongst the giants of the old growth forest before venturing to the coastal town of Sausalito with quaint shops, art galleries, and waterfront restaurants. Enjoy lunch and time to sightsee, before making a leisurely return to the city. (B)
Tue, Mar 25: Today is free to explore at your own pace. Consider grabbing a ride on a cable car, visiting Chinatown or Ghirardelli Square, touring one of the many museums or Golden Gate Park, or wandering at Fisherman’s Wharf. A Hop-on Hop-off pass is included to make travel around the city a breeze. (B)
Wed, Mar 26: This morning, visit the Aquarium by the Bay, where more than 24,000 creatures representing over 200 species fill 7 major galleries. On a private VIP tour, enter the aquarium before opening hours and an expert guide will take you through the most popular exhibits and exclusive behind-the-scenes areas. Learn how the crew cares for the marine animals, what it takes to make a home for a shark, and meet the playful river otters. Continue to the Boudin Bistro & Bakery, which tells the story of the famous sourdough bread from its roots in the Gold Rush era. Roll up your sleeves and try crafting dough into one of Boudin’s famous bread critters and interact with a baker while learning about the science and history behind what makes Boudin’s sourdough so famous. Enjoy a delicious lunch featuring the sourdough treat. This afternoon, get in some last-minute shopping or sightseeing before boarding your Farewell Dinner Cruise through the San Francisco Bay. Bid adieu to the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge and Alcatraz as your sail past. (B,L,D)
