Overview

Hawaii, the ever-popular Polynesian paradise of unbridled beauty is still one of the world’s top vacation destinations offering an abundance of things to do and see!

Start with two nights in a hotel near famous Waikiki Beach. Immerse yourself in Polynesian culture and history with an included day trip to the Polynesian Cultural Center, where you’ll experience a traditional luau and show. A visit to Pearl Harbor Visitor’s Center and the exhibits at the USS Arizona Memorial* are included in your city tour of Honolulu.

Sail on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America, United States flagged and crewed and the only cruise ship allowed to sail these Hawaiian waters without touching a foreign port. Set off from Oahu and cruise the Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai—all without having to pack and unpack to see each island. NCL’s Freestyle Cruising mentality means your time on board is less structured, giving you the flexibility to create your own dining experience, and the liberty to dress up, dress down, or have pizza delivered to your stateroom. Daily optional excursions are offered to enhance your experience, and with two stops on the Big Island and overnights in both Maui and Kauai, you’ll have the extra time and freedom to choose more than just one excursion in each port of call. Sail through paradise at your own pace for a Hawaiian encounter that is perfect for you!

Thu, Feb 20: Fly to Honolulu, Oahu. Transfer to your hotel and spend two nights near Waikiki Beach.

Fri, Feb 21: Following breakfast at the hotel, enjoy an included excursion to the Polynesian Cultural Center, a “must see” attraction replicating six authentic villages representing the island cultures of not only Hawaii, but Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, and Aotearora (New Zealand). Experience the cultural music, dance and hands-on activities as you navigate through the represented regions. Top off the day with a royal feast of delicious island fare at the center’s award-winning Luau! The passionate performance encompassing traditional fire dancing, Polynesian drumming, singing, and storytelling will leave a lasting impression. (Meals: Breakfast, Dinner)

Sat, Feb 22: Board Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America in Honolulu and slip into a relaxed frame of mind, knowing you won’t have to unpack to island-hop for the rest of the trip. (B,L,D)

Sun, Feb 23: Considered the most magical and romantic of the islands, Maui is full of lush mountains and rainforests that complement the tropical beaches. From the port of Kahului, you may choose to see the island’s diverse beauty on a helicopter ride, spying hidden waterfalls in the jungle. Staying overnight on the ship means you can rise before dawn for the ritual sunrise journey to the top of Mount Haleakala or sleep in and spend the next day on the beach, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, or hiking. (B,L,D)

Mon, Feb 24: Spend another day exploring the magical charms of Maui. (B,L,D)

Tue, Feb 25: Today, stop in Hilo, Hawaii (the “Big Island”) where the popular stop for many visitors is Volcanoes National Park, a surreal landscape of lava tubes, fire pits, and an active volcano! You can even take a 45-minute helicopter ride over the smoking Mount Kilauea. (B,L,D)

Wed, Feb 26: On the opposite side of the Big Island; visit Kona—the gateway to the sunny western coast, where you may take a drive through rolling green pastures, visit sacred sites, or snorkel in a protected marine preserve. Kona is also home to several coffee plantations, Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, and Kealakekua Bay, where Captain James Cook first set foot on the island in 1778. (B,L,D)

Thu, Feb 27: The tropical paradise of the island of Kauai awaits! Ruggedly beautiful, lush, and remote, this island was the ideal setting for Stephen Spielberg’s motion picture Raiders of the Lost Ark and eleven years later he chose Kauai again for Jurassic Park. Step off the ship in Nawiliwili, Kauai your launching pad for optional excursions to visit Fern Grotto, and Waimea Canyon, a sight you must see to believe. Swim behind a waterfall or take a small boat excursion to sail the coastline. (B,L,D)

Fri, Feb 28: Enjoy a second day to discover more of this lush tropical island. (B,L,D)

Sat, Mar 1: Following breakfast, take an included tour of Pearl Harbor Visitors Center & *USS Arizona Memorial. Afterward, head downtown for a narrated tour of Honolulu’s highlights, passing Punchbowl National Cemetery and Iolani Palace. Disembark in Honolulu and transfer to the airport for your overnight flights home. (B)

Sun, Mar 2: Arrive in Indianapolis in the afternoon.
