Spring is a perfect time to visit Manhattan—the new Broadway shows are beginning to bloom and the summer crowds haven’t arrived yet! Cherry blossoms are also starting to make their debut in Central Park, making for gorgeous photo opportunities.

Opening this spring, The Pirates of Penzance will star Ramin Karimloo and David Hyde Pierce featuring a jazzy reimagining of Arthur Sullivan’s classic musical score. Also featured—Just In Time starring Tony Award ® winner Jonathan Groff (Merrily We Roll AlongHamilton) as Bobby Darin, the iconic singer whose short but significant life took him from teen idol to global sensation. Check into the New York Marriott Marquis for four nights. Relax and enjoy an evening on your own. (Meals: Lunch)

Thu, Apr 10: This morning, meet a Broadway performer, and hear about their personal journey to stardom and life on the Great White Way. Then, transfer to Lower Manhattan for some free time for lunch in the South Street Seaport Historic District before exploring the secrets of the seaport and its scandalous past on a guided walking tour. The guide will share maritime history as well as true stories taken directly from the headlines of newspapers from as far back as 1790!  Spend your evening on Broadway with included dinner and your first musical, The Pirates of Penzance, starring Ramin Karimloo and David Hyde Pierce and a score featuring a jazzy reimagining of Arthur Sullivan’s classic compositions. Fri, Apr 11: Today, explore the life and times of one of the world’s most renowned jazz musicians and entertainers: Louis Armstrong! Visit his modest home in Queens where he lived from 1943 until his death in 1971, now a National Historic Landmark. In 1983, his widow Lucille willed the building and its contents to New York City for the creation of a museum and study center devoted to Armstrong’s career and the history of jazz. The house is a gem frozen in time, as if the Armstrongs have just stepped out for the afternoon. This evening, enjoy dinner with the group before Tony Award winner® Jonathan Groff takes the stage in the new musical Just In Time. You’ll hear his iconic hits brought to life through a stellar live ensemble combined with an extraordinary cast of performers. Return to the hotel following the show. (B,D)

Sat, Apr 12: Spend your morning and afternoon doing as you please! Catch a Broadway matinee, shop, or explore the city! Tonight, rejoin the group for your last included Broadway performance—GYPSY, a once-in-a-generation theatrical event starring none other than Audra McDonald, the most celebrated stage performer of all time. The winner of a record-breaking six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards and an Emmy, in 2015 she was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people and received the National Medal of Arts—America’s highest honor for achievement in the field—from President Barack Obama. She performs alongside Tony Award winner Danny Burstein and rising Broadway stars Joy Woods and Jordan Tyson in this revelatory new production helmed by visionary director and six-time Tony Award winner, George C. Wolfe, and four-time Tony Award-nominated choreographer CamilleA. Brown (Hell’s Kitchen). This GYPSY, unlike any seen before, is Broadway’s ultimate tale of mothers and daughters, ambition and fame, and the lengths we’ll go in pursuit of the American dream. Packed with showstoppers like “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “You Gotta Get a Gimmick,” GYPSY shines as “An immortal work of musical theater” (The New York Times). (B)
