Thu, Oct 16: Following an overnight flight, meet your Old-World Sicily & Malta Tour Guide. A welcome lunch will be your first taste of Sicily, followed by an introductory city tour of Monreale, home to Italy’s national treasure, the 12th-Century Norman Cathedral, perched high in the hills overlooking Palermo. Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, the Norman Cathedral, exquisitely adorned in sacred art, has been recognized as the “most beautiful church in the world” by the National Catholic Register. As one of nine religious and civic structures from the Norman Kingdom era, the Norman Cathedral has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captivating visitors with elaborate biblical mosaics and gold filigree perfectly encompassing nearly every inch of the cathedral’s nave. The remainder of the day is yours to rest up or resume discovery of beautiful Palermo. (Welcome lunch)
Fri, Oct 17: The first full day begins with a tantalizing mix of flavors and bustling markets within Palermo’s maze of vibrant streets, serving as a resident hub for an engaging game of cards, and rhythmic tunes of singing merchants. Taste your way through the open-air ‘Arab Souk,’ brimming with fresh local produce fused in both Norman and Oriental influence and showcased in a wide array of Sicilian delicacies, such as wild fennel, olive, and spices. Sun, Oct 19: Journey by boat to the San Patelo Island of Motoya, a small island rich in archaeological remains. The Italian name of Motoya appears as both Mozia and Mothia. Although, more of an islet than an island, Mozia’s history of habitation dates to the 17th Century BC, boasting the site of the oldest Phoenician settlement in the Mediterranean. The fascinating landscape of Mozia’s salt marshes, windmills, and vineyards, just off Sicily’s west coast, is fashioned in a natural setting of transfixing allure. Positioned within the expansive lagoon known as ‘Stagnone’, Mozia was ideally situated for maritime commerce, establishing itself as the most influential colony of 12th-Century Phoenician trade. Return to the shore, then progress along the coastline until the Donnafugata Marsala Winery comes into view. Not only does Donnafugata feature family cellars that reflect a notable example of industrial heritage dating to 1851, their unique setting near the picturesque salt pans of Marsala, now plays host to a remarkable collection of rare Kolymbethra citrus trees since 2023, thereby honoring the beauty of this ancient landscape. Delight in a experiential wine tasting and Sicilian culinary pairing for lunch prior departing for Agrigento, home of the Valley of Temples, undoubtedly the most consequential relic of classical culture in the world. Settle in for an overnight stay, taking advantage of a free evening to survey this Mediterranean gem in your own special way. (B,L)
Mon, Oct 20: Today is the day to unveil the ancient wealth of Agrigento. Colonized by ancient Greece, is Akragas, the ancient city of Agrigento, positioned on the largely unexcavated remains of a seaside plateau. Just outside of Agrigento, lies the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site of eight Greek temples, a necropolis, and sanctuary. Home to some of the best-preserved Ancient Greek ruins in the universe, the Valley of Temples is presumably the most valuable of all archaeological sites and touts the most impressive ensemble of Hellenic architecture in Sicily. Learn how only the commentary of expert historians can complement the fascinating chronicle of the Temple of Juno Lacinia, and the Temple of Concordia. Following Agrigento, transfer to beloved Taormina, a jewel in the crown of Sicily’s east coast, checking into our 4-star Taormina hotel for a two-night stay. (B)
Tue, Oct 21: A remarkable day unfolds in Taormina, a stunning setting situated atop Mt. Tauro, the Pearl of the Ionian Sea, establishing it as Sicily’s premier holiday resort. Prepare to engage in an expert led tour featuring the city’s Duomo, public gardens, and the well-preserved Greek theater, as you walk in the footsteps of nineteenth-century aristocracy amidst the spectacular backdrop of the adjacent coast. The afternoon and evening are yours to grab a bite at a sidewalk café or peruse the local boutiques for handcrafted souvenirs. Enjoy personal time exploring this chic, unmissable town! (B)

Recognized as a city with two souls, Ragusa Ibla, old town Ragusa, is charmed in a maze of alleyways, while Ragusa Superiore, upper town, boasts a contemporary city of polished beauty, together combining a delicate tapestry of elegant late-Baroque and Neo-Classical architecture from the 1700’s, drawing visitors from all corners of the globe. Conclude the day with another hearty feast of Sicilian fare with your fellow travelers, before calling it a night. (B,D)
Thu, Oct 23: Today, taste your way through the picture-book towns of Scicli and Modica. Visit an original Ricotta Farm and indulge in the authentic flavor of Sicilian cheese, perfected with fresh organic milk from a family-owned farm. Experience the essence of farm fresh cuisine with a genuine Savor Sicilian Brunch before transporting to a time of Spanish Conquistadors rule and the governing introduction of ‘xocoatl’, crafted from cocoa beans. Taste the artistry of a unique cold chocolate technique that eliminates the need for melting, enabling the incorporation of caster sugar to accentuate Modica’s signature coarse texture, resulting in an authentic grainy, and crumbly, Aztec chocolate. Later, bid arrivederci to Sicily and ferry to the independent island paradise of Malta, one of the smallest countries in the world! An eventful day will close in the central, social and commercial hub of Malta, providing a contrast of past and present with a three night stay at a sophisticated hotel in the amazing city center of Sliema, loaded with sidewalk cafés and flower-strewn cottages, a resort town garnered for nightlife and shopping. Fri, Oct 24: This morning, begin with a living history tour highlighting the exceptional preservation of Malta. At the heart of Malta, lie three enchanting cities, Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua, each offering a unique glimpse into the island’s storied past. The most noteworthy of the three is Vittoriosa, who’s origin dates to ancient Phoenicia with Fort St. Angelo, a prominent symbol of Maltese history and military heritage, standing guard over Vittorriosa’s Grand Harbour. Possessing considerable relevance from the Great Siege of Malta, Vittoriosa is not only respected as the inaugural residence of the Knights of the Order of St. John, but home to prominent landmarks such as the Inquisitor’s Palace, and St. Lawrence Church, which functioned as the Order’s Place of Worship prior to establishing St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. Explore Sliema with a free evening on your own. (B,L)

Observe the ongoing pedestrianization efforts in Valletta, which are influencing similar transformations in other towns across Malta. Take in the artistic evolution of St. John’s Co-Cathedral, featuring the masterful works of Mattia Preti and Caravaggio’s striking portrayal of the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist. This evening, celebrate a final night among the extraordinary people and land of Sicily & Malta, as you gather for an exclusive farewell dinner to reminisce of favored times and cherished memories.
