This 250-room French Renaissance chateau was built between 1889 and 1895 by George Washington Vanderbilt II, and touts itself as “bigger and grander” than its counterparts in Rhode Island and New York. Explore the amazing intricacies of this “little mountain escape” and as night falls, be amazed as the holiday magic comes alive by candlelight.

Sun, Dec 7: Depart Indianapolis for Nashville, Tennessee, known across the nation as Music City! Upon arrival, spend some free time for lunch at Assembly Food Hall where the food choices are amazing and endless! Next, take a narrated tour of “Music City” with a musical local guide providing enlightening narration and a few tunes along the way! Take in this magical city all decked out in holiday cheer, learn about the preservation of the Old Ryman Auditorium, drive through Music Row, and see the Parthenon—a full-scale replica of the original in Athens. Continue to Gaylord Opryland to immerse yourself in the holiday festivities of this 9-acre “winter wonderland”! Check in for a little rest and refresh before kickstarting the holiday season with a lively Christmas dinner show at the resort. (Meals: Dinner)
Mon, Dec 8: Following a hot breakfast, plenty of activities await just outside your hotel room door! Experience ICE! where you’ll be surrounded by a stunning display of ice sculptures created by over 40 artisans. Relax and refresh or take in more of the attractions at the resort, use your ticket for the Delta River Flatboat experience, and have dinner on your own before rejoining the group to attend an Opry Country Christmas production at the Grand Ole Opry. Tue, Dec 9: Depart Nashville after breakfast for the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and Asheville, North Carolina. Stop for lunch on the way before arriving at the Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate to check in for your two-night stay. A short stroll will find you in the heart of Antler Hill Village, connecting the estate’s present to the past with historical exhibits, restaurants, and unique shops. You’ll spend an elegant evening at a Candlelight Christmas tour of the Biltmore mansion, where the grandiose rooms come to life with candles, twinkling Christmas lights, and musicians filling the halls with the sounds of the season. Discover at your own pace with an audio guide leading you room-by-room, sharing stories of Biltmore’s former residents and employees plus highlights of the home’s art and architecture. Wed, Dec 10: The morning greets you with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before some leisure time for exploration on your own. Choose to spend more time in Antler Hill Village or head to downtown Asheville (a scheduled shuttle will be offered for Ambassadair) to explore more of what the city has to offer during the holiday season, such as the Grove Arcade—opened in 1929 by E.W. Grove and built to celebrate the city he loved so much. Now this ornate, historic building offers a variety of shops, restaurants and events and supports local artists providing gallery space during the holiday season. Later, Gingerbread masterpieces, themed Christmas trees, thousands of glimmering lights, roaring fireplaces, and a festive buffet dinner await at The Omni Grove Park Inn, the headquarters of the National Gingerbread House Competition. See sweet creations on display and wrap up your trip with a delightful meal. (B,D)
