Thu, July 2: Fly from Indianapolis to Boston with your Ambassadair Travel Director. Meet up with a local expert for a historical tour of Lexington, Massachusetts. Relive the pivotal battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, which launched the Revolutionary War, and see the historical battlefields at Minute Man National Historical Park, as well as those of the Lexington Battle Green and the Old North Bridge. Return to Boston and check into The Bostonian Hotel for two nights, located just minutes from Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail.
Fri, July 3: After breakfast, the day kicks off with a guided tour of the Freedom Trail. View historic sites like the Boston Common, America’s oldest park, and the Granary Burying Ground, the final resting place of many patriots, including Paul Revere, the five victims of the Boston Massacre, and three signers of the Declaration of Independence: Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Robert Treat Paine. Visit the Old North Church, renowned for its connection to Revere’s famed midnight ride as the location of the famous “one if by land, two if by sea” signal. It’s also the oldest surviving church building in Boston. After the tour, the remainder of the day is yours to explore Boston at your leisure. (Meal: Breakfast)
Sat, July 4: Check out of the hotel after breakfast and witness the pivotal event that forever changed the course of American history at the Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum. Join Samuel Adams as he leads a recreation of the historic town meeting, then join the rebellion aboard a replica 18th century sailing vessel and toss the Crown’s tea into the harbor! Board Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam and enjoy modern comforts as you embark on this historic journey. Sun, July 5: Discover nearly four hundred years of history in Saint John—Canada’s oldest incorporated city—and experience an eclectic blend of past and present, as well as the most colorful city in Canada’s vibrantly painted homes, dubbed “Jellybean Row.” A safe haven for “Loyalist” refugees who fled the United States after the Revolutionary War, Saint John’s Loyalist Trail follows the path of its founders, beginning at the exact spots where they landed on May 18, 1783. The trail also features other notable locations, including the 1784 Burial Grounds, 1876 Old City Market, and the New Brunswick Museum. Or perhaps you’ll choose an optional excursion that takes you to view the beauty of the Bay of Fundy from Fort Howe, which overlooks this charming old port city. You’ll be fascinated by the Reversing Falls Rapids, where twice a day, some of the highest tides in the world meet the mighty Saint John River, causing the river to flow in the opposite direction! Established in 1682 as a colonial seaport, the city a rich naval history—with one of the most extensive naval bases in the world—stunning waterfront scenery, and vibrant coastline culture. Delve into Norfolk’s over three hundred year history on an optional excursion: tour the USS Wisconsin, visit Nauticus maritime discovery center, or see the Naval Station. Enjoy today’s fresh catch at a waterfront restaurant or spend time in Norfolk’s lively shopping districts.
