Today, they offer a fascinating window into the grand hotel era of the early 20th century and the tradition of “taking the waters.”

Thu, Dec 10: Depart Indianapolis via motorcoach and head south to French Lick, long-time spa destination in the heart of the Hoosier National Forest. Upon arrival check in at the French Lick Springs Hotel. Then take historical tours of both French Lick and West Baden Springs Hotels, capturing the essence of the season in their black-tie attire! Discover the captivating history and old-world opulence of both properties as iconic symbols of great economic achievement in the 1900’s. Hear tales of the “miracle water” that drew movers and shakers to the side-by-side towns, making it a famed vacation and gathering spot for the wealthy and prominent in society. Tonight, indulge in a delicious dinner with your fellow travelers. (Meals: Dinner)

Fri, Dec 11: Breakfast is included in the Grand Colonnade Restaurant. The morning and afternoon are yours for personal exploration in grand fashion to do some Christmas shopping, try your hand at lady luck, get a treatment at the 27,000 square foot spa, visit the stables for a tour or carriage ride, or challenge your family to a game of bowling in Pluto’s Alley, or merely bask in the ambiance of the holiday festivities! This evening transfer to Clarksville, along the Ohio River. Enjoy dinner and a show at the Derby Dinner Playhouse, one of the oldest and largest continually operating professional dinner theatres in the country. A Christmas Story The Musical is based on the classic Christmas movie—set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana. It follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts: an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Following the show return to the hotel. Sat, Dec 12: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before packing up your holiday memories and heading home. Return to Indianapolis in the afternoon with a stop for lunch along the way. (B,L)
