Mon, Nov 2: Fly to San Antonio, Texas. Upon arrival, stop for lunch and then get acquainted with the city as a local guide tells you about its storied history, architecture, and culture on a narrated city tour by motorcoach. Afterwards, check in to your hotel, located directly on the Paseo del Rio (River Walk), a unique public park and network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River lined by restaurants, bars, and shops. Gaze up at the towering cypress trees that line the River Walk as it winds and loops through the heart of downtown and immerse yourself in its laid-back atmosphere. Enjoy a delicious Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers before returning to the hotel. (Meals: Dinner)

Tue, Nov 3: Breakfast is included at the hotel before a short drive to San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Make stops at two of the four Spanish colonial missions—San José, the largest, and Mission Concepción, the oldest unrestored stone church in America. Return to the hotel and enjoy free time to explore local attractions such as the Briscoe Western Art Museum, located in the former San Antonio Public Library building with nine galleries across three levels, or get a sweeping view of the city from the 750-ft landmark Tower of the Americas. There are plenty of shopping opportunities, including the vast array of shops along the River Walk, and at the Historic Market Square, the largest Mexican market in the United States. In the late afternoon take a narrated boat cruise on the Paseo del Rio. This evening, after the crowds have left, take a private, after-hours tour of the Alamo. The Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution and people worldwide continue to “Remember the Alamo” as a heroic struggle against impossible odds. (B)

On your way to town visit nearby Johnson City, hometown of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, and stop at the visitor center of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Johnson’s Boyhood Home. Return to San Antonio later this afternoon and enjoy a delectable barbecue dinner with the group tonight! (B,D)
