Overview

There’s something about fall that says “New England.” Maybe it’s the sturdy granite mountains covered with maple, beech, and birch trees in colors of crimson and gold, or the clean, crisp air that draws us there. Whatever the reason, Vermont and New Hampshire and their Green and White Mountains are some of the most beautiful areas for fall colors in North America. Our trip is scheduled during the traditionally best time to see peak colors in the Northeast.

Settle into your room with a view at Lake Morey resort for five nights! Your days will be filled with train trips and drives through some of the most incredible vistas of New England. Ride a gondola to the top of Vermont’s Mount Mansfield. Visit local food producers, view a granite quarry, and meet majestic Friesian horses. Glide along Lake Champlain, named for Samuel de Champlain—cartographer, explorer, and colonial administrator.

Climb New Hampshire’s Mount Washington on a cog railway – a treat for vintage railroad buffs and adventurers alike. Ride the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway and enjoy a five-course dinner on the Café Lafayette Dinner Train.

Next, relax on a laidback cruise around Lake Champlain, complete with scenic narration and the chef’s buffet lunch. Mirrored images of fall brilliance dance on the water as you glide along. After the cruise, step aboard an eight-passenger gondola for an exhilarating ride up magnificent Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont!
