Tue, Dec 10: Depart Indianapolis for Historic Roscoe Village, in Coshocton, Ohio; all dressed up in holiday splendor. Travel back in time to discover how Christmas traditions were practiced in the 1800s — from cards, toys, treats, “visions of sugarplums,” and letters to Santa. Then wander through the delightful variety of shops with unique gifts and Ohio handcrafted items. Take a tour of the cyclorama Behalt located at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center. Behalt is distinguished as the work of solely one artist, from original research and conception to charcoal sketches and final oils-on-canvas production. This fascinating work of art is one of only a few cycloramas they can be viewed by the public in North America. Continue to Walnut Creek and check in to your hotel, the picturesque Carlisle Inn, for the next three nights. Enjoy a delicious buffet of Amish-style fare before settling in to watch Christmas in the Country at the Amish Country Theater with its extravaganza of music, ventriloquists, comedians, and more. (Meal: Lunch, Dinner)

Wed, Dec 11: This morning, visit the fascinating Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens in Dover. Explore Ernest Warther’s ebony, ivory, and walnut hand-carved masterpieces, in addition to his expansive Native American arrowhead collection, the Warther family home, and his wife’s enormous button collection. Stop in at Walnut Creek Cheese for lunch on your own at their Mudd Valley Café, famous for their Amish “haystack” lunch. This evening, visit the nearby village of Sugar Creek, widely known as the “Little Switzerland of Ohio,” and home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock. You’ll have free time to explore before dinner at Dutch Valley Restaurant. (B,D)

Thu, Dec 12: Today, visit the Victorian House Museum in Millersburg, all decked out for the holidays. One of the best examples of Queen Anne architecture, and on the National Register of Historic Places, the mansion features 28 rooms of Victorian furnishings, accessories, and holiday decorations. Then spend some free time in historic downtown Millersburg, a true artisan’s paradise. Find shops full of beautiful hand-crafted gems such as wooden bowls, colorful throw rugs, intricately designed glass ornaments, and centuries old antiques — just a sampling of the treasures waiting to be discovered. Be sure to stop by Hotel Millersburg, built in 1824 as a stagecoach stop and tavern. Check out over 750 historic pictures in the first-floor entrance hallway and throughout the Tavern. Visit Heini’s cheese factory before heading back to the hotel to freshen up before another live performance. Take your seat for a Christmas Bluegrass Celebration from Rhonda Vincent, hailed as “the new queen of bluegrass” by the Wall Street Journal. As one of the genre’s most successful musicians, her talent extends far beyond the bluegrass world and will be enjoyed by any music fan. Return to the hotel following the show. (B)

Fri, Dec 13: Following breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to Cambridge, transformed for the holidays into a charming Dickens Victorian Village. A local guide will explain how this Dickens tradition came about and describe engaging depictions of classic Dickens-era scenes comprised of life sized, hand-made mannequins at each antique lamppost and bench. Then, delight in a four-course Victorian Tea for lunch at the Cambridge Country Club. Visit Cambridge Glass and Kennedy Bakery before returning to Indianapolis. (B,L)
